My before military life list

One of (in my opinion) the most interesting films of all time is the movie 'Bucket List', which tells the story of two terminal cancer patients living out their dreams in the final months of their lives, and learning a few important lessons along the way. Now everyone has a list of things to do before they die, but I have another list on my mind.

As many people know, I intend to join the military. Now this will be a completely different change of lifestyle. Sure it will be adventurous, but at the same time, I will be leaving a lot behind. Add this fact to all my friends going off to university shortly, and I do not leave much time before my changes hit. So I have a small (well... sort of) list of things I wish to do before my life changes forever. Some things, I have already done, and others may soon be added. So ladies and Gentlemen, welcome to Mathew Willis' 'pre-military list'

-Go to the south coast on holiday. Now this may seem like a simple one, but several places there are very special to me as they are a large part of my childhood. Places like the fossil cliffs of Lyme Regis and the ww2 fort at Weymouth beach. I wish to go there again before my military days begin

-go airsofting. it would be nice to have a bit of warfare where it’s not too bad if I get hit

-re live the old days with Hamlyn. Me and him would always have the same Friday routine in primary school. We would go to the oasis leisure centre and go swimming for an hour or so, go home to dairylea lunchables and just chill on the ps2. We have to do that again, for old times’ sake.
-eat a triple fried egg sandwich with chilli sauce and chutney...damn you red dwarf

-Go around the museums at London. another childhood past-time of mine

-at least get half-way through 'to begin, end'

-finish reading 'Dracula' and 'the adventures of Sherlock Holmes' (yes, soldiers are allowed to be cultured)

Seeing as it is now 2:47am, that is all I can come up with for now, but I may find more in the future. Any suggestions are welcome

a new dawn, a new plan

Good evening ladies and gents.

sorry it's been a while friends, but between work, the RAF, Drunkenness and my own mind running around like an untamed bull elephant in the mating season, I haven’t really found the time. But here you go, here's another post, so don't give up on me yet, please...

I would like to start this with a clarification. Yes, I am posting a blog on valentine’s day, but this is not going to be some sob story, nor will it be a 'I love so-in-so' post. Only one year of my life have I ever given two shits about this day and that is not this year. So all those preparing to vomit over a soppy story, sickbags away people. I just thought you chaps may simply wish to know what is going down in the world of the Willis.

First of all, i have begun to push the story mentioned in my last blog into full swing and it now has it's own wiki thanks to my good friend Hamlyn (http://tobeginend.wikia.com/wiki/To_Begin,_End_Wiki) so if you would like to know some of the basics, please read.
Work is Generally going very well. I have mastered many of the aspects and have begun to assume a fair amount of responsibility in the workplace having now taken on full time employment. This does result in a rather healthy pay check at the end of every month, so it certainly keeps me happy ^-^.

But possibly the biggest event in recent month is the failure of my RAF aptitude test, shooting down my typhoon dreams. But at the same time I’m not to upset at the moment. Though i was upset at the time, i find myself bought back to a very old quote, one that was said to me by a fellow candidate who also unfortunatly did not pass. I of course refer to 'everything happens for a reason'. I have recently been looking into the infantry. This would allow me to train as a sniper and actually lead soldiers out in the field, which is what I really wish to do as an officer in her majesty's armed forces. Ok, I will admit it's rather more dangerous, but might as well live a little eh?

Anyways, that’s what's 'going down' so to speak. Until next time
